Women's Lacrosse Falls to Lee University

The Nyack College lacrosse team faced Lee University in a match in Tennessee on Friday, with the Warriors falling to the Flames in an 18-8 loss.

Lee scored quickly to start the game with two goals within 20 seconds of each other, at 1:30 and 1:50 into the game. Lee added another score two minutes later off of a Nyack turnover. Melissa Clapsaddle quickly earned draw control immediately after, which led to a Tori Silvers goal on an assist from Julianna Kranes at 3:58. Silvers then scored again at 7:45 after Morgan Kessler picked up a ground ball to give Nyack possession, putting the score at 3-2 Lee. However, Lee surged back on offense by scoring two consecutive free-position shots and then five more goals after that while keeping Nyack scoreless over a period of 10 minutes. Silvers broke through at 18:53 to score, with Torie Eggers feeding her the assist. Lee scored once more in the half, and though Melissa Clapsaddle was able to get off two final shots for Nyack, the Warriors went into halftime down 10-3.

The second half started with aggressive defense on Nyack's part, causing two turnovers that led to Melissa Clapsaddle charging in for the goal at 33:48. Tori Silvers and Torie Eggers both got off a shot after a Lee turnover, but Lee answered with three more goals in three minutes before Tori Silvers took control of the draw and instantly scored at 38:27. In the following eight minutes, Nyack got two shots from Eggers and Clapsaddle, but Lee scored five goals to go ahead 18-5 with 11 minutes left of play. The Warriors answered with an almost immediate goal from Tori Silvers, and after fighting for control of four ground balls, Nyack scored again from Melissa Clapsaddle at 53:06. With less than two minutes left of play, Julianna Kranes scored on a free-position shot for the last score of the game before Nyack ended in a loss.
