The Nyack College lacrosse team hosted Molloy College on Thursday in a non-conference match, with the Warriors unable to overcome an early deficit in a 20-5 loss to the Lions.
Molloy's offense came out strong in the first half, and the Warriors were not able to retaliate as the Lions scored seven goals in the first seven minutes. Molloy's offensive surge was snapped at 8:36 by Julianna Kranes, who scored on an assist from Tori Silvers after recovering a missed free-position shot from the Warriors. Kranes' goal would be Nyack's only score of the half, as Molloy went on to score nine more goals in the remaining 21 minutes. The Warriors went into halftime down 16-1.
In the second half, Nyack matched Molloy goal-for-goal as their defense limited the Lions' scoring opportunities. Tori Silvers started off the half with an almost immediate score for Nyack, charging in for the unassisted goal after 47 seconds of play. Molloy answered with a score at 33:40, but it was Tori Silvers again with Nyack's response with another unassisted goal at 35:35. Molloy scored on a free-position shot at 41:40. Melissa Clapsaddle scored for Nyack just over a minute later after securing a draw-control and going in for the goal. Molloy scored twice more, and Tori Silvers finished out the game with a final Nyack goal at 55:58 as the Warriors ended in a loss.
Tori Silvers led the Warriors with 3 goals, 1 assist, and 4 ground balls. Melissa Clapsaddle also picked up 4 ground balls for the game.
