Women's Lacrosse Suffers Loss in Season Opener

Wilson, NC - The Nyack College women's lacrosse team opened it 2020 season campaign with a road trip to Barton College in Wilson, North Carolina. The Warriors were limited to ten field players but battled to finish the game with a final score of 6-17. 

Barton scored the first goal of the game with 28:12 left in the first half. But Nyack's Jasmyne Moore answered right away only 30 seconds later to tie the game up again. Barton would score another pair of goals before Moore got her second of the day to make it 2-3. The Bulldogs got another goal a minute later, but it was once again Jasmyne Moore to keep the Warriors close. The game continued to be close. The Bulldogs enjoyed another pair of goals to go up 6-3, before Melissa Clapsaddle and Jocelin Wright brough Nyack back within one. Bartn scored two more to finish the half with a score of 5-8. 

The Warriors hit a wall in the second half in which the Bulldogs scored five unanswered goals, before Wright scored her second of the day. Barton scored another four to round up scoring in a game that finished with a final score of 6-17. 

Jasmyne Moore led the Warriors with three goals. Melissa Clapsaddle decided 8 draw controls in her favor, while scooping up three ground balls. Maggie Slavin and Kathleen Lino shared teir time in the net and both recorded four saves. 

Up Next: Nyack will be back in action on Thursday when they take on the St. Andrew's University at 1pm.
