Nyack, NY - Two first half goals were enough for the Goldey-Beacom Lightning to defeat the Nyack College women's soccer team today on Moseley Field.
The Lightning scored in the 13th and 28th minute to give Goldey-Beacom a 2-0 half time lead. Nyack ended the first half, with a 5-8 disadvantage in shots and Goldey-Beacom recored the sole corner of the first half.
The momentum shifted in the second period and the Warriors created several good opportunities. One of them was converted by freshman Brianna Sparrow, when she found the back of the net after a Lauren Rygus freekick. Despite a great effort the Warriors were unable to tie up the game, so that the 90 minutes finished with a score of Nyack 1 Goldey-Beacom 2.
Nyack outshot Goldey-Beacom in the second half 5-3. Sophomore goalkeeper Julianna Kranes recorded four saves over 90 minutes of play.
The Warriors will return to action this upcoming Wednesday, when they travel to Post University to square off in a conference matchup. Kick off is slated for 4:00pm.
