Nyack, N.Y. – The Nyack College women's soccer team, finished their 2017 campaign with a 2-1 victory over CACC rivals Concordia College.
The Clippers had the better start into the game. Dayna Darcy took a shot from 25 yards out to beat Nyack's goalkeeper Greta Enloe for the 1-0 lead in the 13th minute. Nyack would try to find the equalizer but was unable to put the ball in the back of the net through the first 45 minutes. The Warriors recorded a 5-2 advantage in shots. Goalkeeper Greta Enloe was not called into action again after the inital Clipper lead and finished the first half with 0 saves, while her counterpart in the Clipper net Kayla Lanza ended the half with one save.
The second half kick-off marked the start of a Warrior comeback rally. Nyack produced several good opportunities in the second half but was unable to finish until the 71ist minute. Senior captain Jessica Short took a shot from the edge of the box and freshman Abisag Ramirez tapped in the ball for the equalizer. The Warriors continued to push forward and rewarded themselves with a second goal in the 79th minute. Freshman Alexia Misset would lay the ball back to teammate Kaelan Kanai who beat Kayla Lanza with a shot into the upper left corner of the goal. The Warriors kept the Clippers away from their own goal for the remainder of the match and earned a well-deserved victory to end their 2017 season.
