Orangeburg, NY - The Nyack College women's soccer team earned its first point of the regular season with a 2-2 tie after double overtime againt the Dominican College Chargers. With the tie the Warriors are now 0-3-1 and 0-1-1 in CACC play.
Nyack struck first in the first 45 minutes when Camila Parada set up Abisag Ramirez for her second goal of the season. The Warriors missed several other opportunties to pull away and the first half ended with a score of 1-0.
Three minutes into the second half the Chargers tied the game after a shot from 12 yards out. But the Warriors answered again when freshman Shanice Rapp converted a penalty kick in the 61st minute to socre her second goal of the season. The Chargers were able to find the back of the Warrior net a second time in the 74th minute to tie the game once again and push the match to overtime.
Both teams tried to find in the game winner through two ten minute periods of overtime without success. The game finished with a final score of 2-2. Camila Parada led the Warriors with five shots, while freshman goalkeeper Nicole Benesch recorded six saves on the day.
Up next: The Warriors will host the Jefferson University Rams on Saturday in another CACC matchup. Kick off is slated for 12:00pm.
