BRONXVILLE, NY (October 9, 2013)
The Nyack Warriors women's volleyball team traveled to face Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) opponent Concordia College on Wednesday.
Nyack dominated winning in three games over the Clippers, 3-0 (25-16, 25-16, 25-18) for their 9th victory of the season and third consecutive win.
The Warriors jumped out into an early lead in the first set as they led 12-6 after a kill by Christy Andrews from Brianna Kane. Nyack then went on an 11-9 run to maintain the lead until they finallly sealed the first set, 25-16.
To begin the second set, Nyack jumped out into a 10-3 lead forcing a timeout by the Clippers. Althought Concordia slowly began to add more to their score board, it would not be enough as Nyack was able to put the set away to take the 2-0 lead.
In the final set, the Lady Warriors took another early lead as they did during the first two matches. The 6-0 run put Nyack in excellent position to start the game off with control.
Over the next several minutes Concordia and Nyack would split a 14-14 run however the score continued to favor the Warriors with a 20-14 lead. After a Nyack time out, they progressed with their run to eventually put the Clippers away with a 25-18 third set victory.
Nyack (9-11, 5-2 CACC) will play again this Friday for their homecoming weekend match in Bowman Gymnasium for a rematch against top seed in the CACC, Caldwell College. The game is set for 7pm followed by another conference battle with Goldey-Beacom at 1pm on Saturday.
