NYACK, NY (October 23, 2013)
Warrior volleyball swept the trio of games (12-25, 15-25, 22-25) and further secured the team's toehold on the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference volleyball standings.
The 3-0 win over Concordia on Wednesday evening allowed for Nyack to reach 11-2 and 15-11 overall, while the Lady Clippers are down to 1-12 and 1-12. The Warriors won their ninth straight match, but the Clippers were not about to give that third set up without a fight.
In the first match Nyack came out early with an 8-0 run to gain the advantage and pull away with the win leading 1-0. The second match was played without the tremendous efforts of outside hitter Deborah Schendel due to an injury that occurred in the match, but the Warriors prevailed a solid effort for the victory.
Being down 0-2, Concordia could feel the pressure. In a hard fought match Concordia would take the lead with 17-16 until Nyack reclaimed the lead at 22-23 and then followed through with the 3-0 sweep.
Irina Impellittiere led the Clippers with 7 kills and Brittany Chappas with a match high of 19 digs.
Nyack volleyball take the court again in an away match on Thursday October 24th against Felician College at 7pm.
