LAKEWOOD, NJ (November 2, 2013)
Nyack women's volleyball team visited Georgian Court University on Saturday afternoon for a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) match. The Warriors would take a set in the showdown at GCU's Wellness Center but the Lions would go on to win their thirteenth CACC match, 3-1.
Nyack began the match dropping the first two sets to trail 2-0. In the opening set the Warriors scored 23 points and in the second set scored 20 points. Nyack would fight hard in the third set to take the thrilling 25-23 victory and keep themselves in the match.
The fourth set would be a low scoring match for the Warrior team as Nyack only managed to score 10 points, allowing GCU to record a 10-25 win to take the match 3-1. The Lions' victory is their fourth straight CACC win of the season.
Sophomore Samantha Garza (North Branch, MI) recorded a team-high eight kills for the Warriors to lead the offense while freshman Abbey Lawson (Mililani, Hawai'i) added 11 kills. Senior Brianna Kane (Bethany, CT) recorded a team-high 27 assists while graduate student Michelle Makela (Cocoa, FL) tallied 17 digs on the defensive end.
Nyack (17-13, 13-4 CACC) will continue to be on the road as the Warriors will visit the Chargers of Dominican College for their last away contest of the regular season. The action is set to begin on Wednesday November 6th at the Hennessy Center in Orangeburg, NY.
