Warriors Season Comes To An End After 3-1 Defeat To Georgian Court

NYACK, NY (November 12, 2013)

The Nyack College women's volleyball team played their first postseason game in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Championships.

Lady Warriors battled the Georgian Court Lions at Bowman Gymnasium in the quarterfinals match where Nyack's journey in the postseason tournament would come to a heartbreaking end after a 3-1 defeat to GCU.

Lady Lions won the match in three sets by scores of: 25-20, 18-25, 25-21, 25-20.

After the final set, Warrior fans continued to chant "lets go Nyack" while giving a standing ovation displaying their never ending support to the emotional Nyack team.

Senior Deborah Schendel (Great Falls, MT) recorded a game high of 16 kills for the night. Sophomore Samantha Garza (North Branch, MI) and senior teammate Allyson Rola (Beacon, NY) led with a team high of 3 block assists a piece.

Freshman Paige Burrell (Ripon, CA) stepped up on defense with a team high of 20 digs while graduate Michelle Makela (Cocoa, FL) added 15 digs and Schendel with 14 digs in the losing effort.

Georgian Court (18-12, 15-4 CACC) will now advance to the semifinals on Friday November 15th to take on Wilmington University, who earlier defeated Felician College in a 3-0 shutout.

Nyack Volleyball (17-6, 13-6 CACC) has officially wrapped up their 2013 campaign. The program recorded its longest home winning streak of 10 consecutive games, named three players to All-Conference accolades, produced the CACC Player of the Year, and earned the conference sportsmanship award.
