Nyack College battled hard through two tough matches in the final day of the East Stroudsburg University Tournament. The Warriors, unfortunately, fell short of a victory against the St. Anselm Hawks and the host East Stroudsburg Warriors.

How It Happened:
Game 1

The Warriors took the court at 2pm facing the Hawks of St. Anselm College.  In a great pairing, the two teams battled for the top score back and forth throughout the entire match.  Nyack's defense forced St. Anselm into creative offense strategies.  Sophomore Lindsay Miller (Chandler, AZ) held the offense at the net recording 1 solo block and 3 block assists.  The defense did not stop there.  Sophomores Kelsi Collins (Tarpon Springs, FL), Alexus Winters (Yorba Linda, CA), and Jillian Smith (Oceanside, CA) did their part on defense recording 13, 9, and 7 digs respectively.  Winters also led the Warriors on offense collecting 11 kills out of 27 attempts.  Miller contributed to the Warriors offense with 20 attempts and 5 kills.  The Warriors continued their strong serving approach at the line as Collins recorded 4 service aces and Smith earned 2 of her own.  The team effort fell just short of a victory in 3 sets with scores of 25-21, 25-23, and 25-14 in favor of St. Anselm.

Game 2

Returning to the court at 6pm, the Warriors took charge of the first set leading by 7 points.  Collins led the defense with 16 digs, providing freshman setter Natalie Anderson (Tualatin, OR) with opportunities to run every offensive option.  Winters earned 9 kills, with Miller and Smith right behind her with 6 and 5 kills each.  Despite long rallies and amazing efforts the Warriors were unable to match East Stroudsburg's offensive line.  The match concluded in favor of ESU with scores of 25-16, 25-19, and 25-12.

Up Next:
