Warriors Go to 4 Sets with Cougars

In a thrilling 4 set match the Warriors took 1 set from Caldwell before losing 3-1 at the conclusion of the evening.   The results would help Caldwell progress to a 15-8 overall record.

How It Happened:

Sophomore Lindsay Miller (Chandler, AZ) earned a double/double for the night with 10 kills and 10 digs against the Cougars.  Miller was granted 35 attempts of which 10 were direct points and only 2 errors were made.  In addition to her 10 digs, Miller added to the Warriors defense trapping the Cougars at the net twice with 2 block assists. She also proved herself as an offensive force from the service line earning 1 ace against Caldwell. 

Miller was joined by sophomore Alexus Winters (Yorba Linda, CA) who garnered points for the Warriors on offense and defense as well. Winters earned 8 kills for the Warriors as well as 1 service assist.  Defensively, Winters led Nyack with 3 solo blocks while earning 12 digs in the back row.  She was joined by sophomore Kelsi Collins (Tarpon Springs, FL), who earned 19 digs against the Cougars offense and was able to achieve 5 kills against the Cougar defense. Sophomore Jillian Smith (Oceanside, CA) and Senior Annah Aguilar (New Bloomfield, PA) matched statistics across the board earning 5 kills, 1 ace, and 9 digs for the night.

The Warriors stole the first set from the Cougars winning with a score of 25-23.  In the second match the Cougars adjusted to the Warriors offense winning the set 25-18.  The third match saw an incredible feat of endurance, with the Warrior's trademark extensive rallies; unfortunately the Cougars would emerge victorious, again, with a score of 25-18.  The fourth and final set of the match would go to the Cougars 25-9.  The concluding score of the night would remain Nyack 1, Caldwell 3.

The Warriors return to action Homecoming Weekend on Saturday, October 17th, at 12pm.  Nyack will face Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference competitors Goldey-Beacom College; come out and support your Warriors!
