Nyack's Volleyball team travelled to make up two postponed matches within the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference on Thursday, November 5th.  The double match for the Warriors was hosted by the University of the Sciences Devils.  In the first round of play the Warriors acted as home team against the Chestnut Hill Griffins.  The second round was a competition between the Warriors and the home host, the Devils.

Home vs. Chestnut Hill
Sophomore Jillian Smith (Oceanside, CA) made her season debut as a setter for the Warriors earning 5 assists.  She also led the team in aces and digs, with 1 and 11 respectively, while remaining a viable option on offense with 3 kills out of 17 attempts.  Sophomore Lindsay Miller (Chandler, AZ) acted as Smith's counterpart with 2 assists, 4 kills out of 20 attempts, and 6 digs.  Miller and Smith were joined on offense and defense by sophomore Alexus Winters (Yorba Linda, CA) who earned 4 kills of 22 attempts and 7 digs.  Sophomore Kelsi Collins (Tarpon Springs, FL) returned with her consistent presence earning 10 digs for the match as well as covering each teammate on offense preventing the Griffins from earning more than 1 block.

The Warriors forced the Griffins to earn each point of every set, closely matching them in attempts and digs despite the score difference.  In set 1 the Warriors were able to manufacture points against the Griffins' raw defense but were unable to top their opponent, losing with a score of 25-15.  In sets 2 and 3 the Griffins made vast adjustments to the Warriors offense and limited Nyack to earned 2 kills each match.  The final two sets would conclude with scores of 25-4 and 25-9, resulting in a 3-0 victory for Chestnut Hill.

Away vs. USP
In the second match of the game the Warriors matched the Devils of USP on attempts, but were out produced defensively.  Collins and Winters led the Warriors with 6 digs against the Devils and were closely followed by Smith, who tallied 5 digs of her own.  Smith was also able to top the Warriors offense, leading the way with 9 kills out of 20 attempts.  Senior Annah Aguilar (New Bloomfield, PA) tallied the sole ace and a solo block of the match for the Warriors.  Miller and Winters were able to add one more block to the Warriors defense together before the conclusion of the match.

In this second match, the Warriors again brought their signature long rallies, forcing the Devils into out of system plays, and were able to win the point in many of the rallies.  Unfortunately, the Devils of USP were able to secure significantly more kills per set and limited their errors resulting in a match victory.  Set 1 would conclude with a final score of 25-12, as would set 2, and set 3 would end 25-13 resulting in a 3-0 victory for the Devils.
