Women's Volleyball Secures First Win of the Season
The Nyack Warriors volleyball team scored their first win of the season on their home court, defeating the Concordia Clippers 3-1. The win was also their first conference victory, bringing their CACC record to 1-1.

In the first set, the Warriors capitalized on some early Clippers errors to take a lead that they would not relinquish. The Nyack defense, both in blocking and in the back row, did not allow Concordia many opportunities to put the ball down. The Clippers fought back, keeping the score close throughout the game, but the Warriors pulled away at the end to put away the first set 25-19. The start of the second set was not as strong for the Warriors, and Concordia took advantage by adjusting their offense. The teams battled back and forth in the closing points, but the Warriors were unable to close it out, dropping the second set 23-25.

The third set started out with Nyack down early after some unforced errors, and it seemed as though Concordia had the momentum. The Warriors regrouped, and started using their passing to set up strategic placements on offense in order to take the lead. Some strong kills by the Nyack hitters near the end of the game led the Warriors to take the third set 25-21. Nyack carried their energy into the fourth set, using tough serves and mixing up their hitting options to take a commanding lead from the start. They finished out the match with a 25-11 win.

Freshman Rachel Medin led the Warriors in kills and assists, contributing 10 kills and 20 assists for the match. She also tied with freshman Bailey Medeiros for the second-most digs with 13 each. Senior Alexus Winters led the defense with 15 digs, with junior Kaitlyn Massey adding 19 assists and freshman Kyra Zuhlke serving 3 aces.

The Warriors return to their home court to face conference opponent Dominican on Friday.
