Warriors Upended by Wildcats

The Nyack Warriors faced the Wilmington Wildcats in a conference matchup, dropping the match 1-3 on their home court.

In the first set, the Warriors surged out to an early lead, going on a 13-2 run thanks to strong serving and attacking on offense. They kept the momentum rolling for the rest of the game, taking the first set with a score of 25-16. The Wildcats answered back in the second set as the teams fought point for point to start out the game. Wilmington made adjustments on their side of the court, and the Warriors were not able to generate as many kills, losing the second game 19-25.

In the third set, the teams traded kills and blocks to keep the score close throughout. Both sides contributed scrappy plays and long rallies, but in the end, Nyack came just short of closing out the game and lost the set 22-25. The fourth set saw Nyack put forth solid defense, which helped keep the Warriors close. Wilmington took the lead late in the game and a Nyack surge fell short, with the Warriors dropping the last set 20-25.

Kyra Zuhlke and Abbey Lawson both led the Warriors offense with 10 kills each. Rachel Medin added 31 assists and British Dawson contributed 24 digs.

Up next, the Warriors host a tri match against Mercy and St. Rose tomorrow on Saturday.
