The Nyack Warriors volleybal team traveled to Caldwell University to take on the Cougars in conference play. The Warriors dropped the match 0-3, bringing their conference record to 4-4.
In the first set, the Warriors and Cougars kept the score tight at the start of the game as they vollied back and forth in long rallies. Nyack's defense and serve receive kept the ball alive for them on their side of the court to extend their opportunities to score. Caldwell began to pull away after putting dowm some hard kills, and Nyack was not able to stop their offense surge, losing the first set 16-25. The second set opened much in the same way, with both teams keeping it close to start out the game. The Warriors put up a strong block in the front row even as Caldwell kept swinging hard. The two teams stayed close in score until the end, when Caldwell again pulled away in the late points of the game. Nyack could not hold them and dropped the second set 22-25. In the third set, the Warriors started off as being down 1-8, but went on a 14-8 run of solid passing and strategic placing to even out the score at 15-16. Fro, there, howevee, the Warriors fell behind again due to some close errors and well-placed hits from Caldwell. Nyack made another small surge at the end but could not stop the Cougars from closing out, losing the third set 19-25.
Kyra Zuhlke led the Nyack hitters with 10 kills and Rachel Medin added 16 assists, with British Dawson contributing 14 digs on defense.
