Women's Volleyball Edges Out Felician University Golden Falcons 3-2

The Nyack Warriors volleyball team went back and forth in their match against the Felician University Golden Falcons before pulling out the win, 3-2, in their conference match. The win brings their CACC record to 6-4 overall.

In the first set, the Warriors and Golden Falcons kept each other close on the scoreboard, with neither team leading by more than a few points at any time. Nyack earned their points by capitalizing on Felician errors and getting some well-placed kills, but the Golden Falcons relied on their consistent passing and blocking to stay right with Nyack as the game went into extra points. The Warriors were not able to close it out and dropped the first set 27-29. Nyack picked up their aggressive play in the second set with tough serving and hard swings that put them in a solid lead right from the start, winning the second game 25-9. The Warriors carried their momentum into the third set, continuing their strategic placements on offense to take the third game 25-17.

Felician answered back in the fourth set by refusing to go down, bringing out their own hard swings and serves to set Nyack back. Tied at 13-13, Felician scored three quick points to gain a lead they would not relinquish, and Nyack lost the fourth set 19-25. In the deciding fifth set, Felician jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead off of early Nyack errors. The Warriors were able to rally themselves to gain the advantage at the side switch, up 8-6. From there, it was a game of net play, as the front rows on each team traded blocks and swings. The Warriors did not give up their lead and claimed the fifth set victory 15-12.

Kyra Zuhlke led the Warriors offense with 20 kills and a .523 hitting percentage, and Alexus Winters held down the defense with 17 digs. Rachel Medin posted a triple double with 15 kills, 11 digs, and 33 assists. The Warriors also had 14 aces as a team.
