Women's Volleyball Extends Winning Streak to Four

The Nyack Warriors faced the Goldey-Beacom Lightning on Nyack's homecoming weekend, with the Warriors securing a 3-0 victory against their conference opponent to bring their CACC record to 7-4.

In the first set, Nyack capitalized on 3 consecutive Lightning serving errors to jump out to an early lead. Goldey-Beacom was not deterred, fighting back to pull ahead again. Down 13-16, the Warriors stepped up their defense and slowed the Lightning's offensive scoring in order to regain the lead and keep it through the end, winning the first set 25-20. In the second set, Nyack and Goldey-Beacom again battled back and forth, keeping within a few points of each other at all times. Nyack's pin hitters were able to keep finding holes on the Lightning's sides, with their front row holding up a strong block. Tied 22-22, the Warriors won the last 3 points to take a win in the second set 25-22. In the third set, the teams again battled back and forth, with neither side giving up any easy points. The Warriors were down 11-14 but surged back to take a lead near the end of the game, holding off the Lightning to win 25-23.

Alexus Winters led the Warriors on offense and defense, with 10 kills and 19 digs. Kaitlyn Massey contributed 18 assists, and Nyack had 10 service aces as a team.

Up next, the Warriors face Post University on Nyack's home court. The game will be a "Pink-Out" to raise awareness and support for breast cancer during the month of October.
