Warriors Cruise Past USciences in Three
The Nyack Warriors volleyball team traveled to take on the University of the Sciences Devils, pulling out a 3-0 win on Halloween night to bring their CACC record to 10-6.

The first set got off to a scary start, with the Warriors fighting for points to keep themselves close on the scoreboard. The Devils jumped out to a 3-7 lead off of three straight service aces, and the Warriors trailed from behind for most of the set, unable to consistently find the holes on the other side of the net. Down 13-18, Nyack started connecting on offense and scored five straight points to dig themselves out of the grave. They kept the lead through the end of the set, holding off the Devils to win 25-23. In the second set, Nyack came out strong, adjusting their game plan to hit strategic shots to generate points. Kept alive by scrappy defensive plays, the Warriors claimed a 25-16 win.

In the third set, the Warriors again jumped out to a quick lead by limiting their own errors and staying consistent on offense. Led by tough blocking at the net, Nyack kept the lead up to 20-15 - but the Devils stole six straight points to surge ahead. From that point forward, the teams traded points back and forth, forcing the game into extra points. Extra hustle on both offense and defense was the trick to the treat of Nyack's victory, and the Warriors won the third set 27-25.

Larreya Hayden led the Warriors at the net with 10 kills and only 1 error, while Abbey Lawson earned 6 blocks. Rachel Medin contributed 21 assists, and British Dawson added 17 digs.

Up next, the Warriors host Bloomfield on Saturday to continue their conference play.
