The Women's Nyack Volleyball team competed in a season opener tri match against Mercy College and College of Saint Rose. The Warriors lost the match against St. Rose in 3 and the final scores were as follows:
Set 1: 25-20
Set 2: 25-15
Set 3: 25-20
Nyack had a slow start in the first set falling behind by 5 points. The warriors began to catch up with help of a service ace by Bailey Medeiros and a kill by Rachel Medin but quickly fell behind again. At a score of 19-10 the Warriors went on a run scoring 7 points in a row bridging the score gap to 19-17. Saint Rose began to creep ahead winning the set.
The Warriors scored the first point of the second set on a kill by Kyra Zuhlke. Saint Rose then made 3 mistakes in a row putting Nyack in the lead. Saint Rose began to catch up and take the lead from the Warriors. At a score of 10-7, the teams began to trade points keeping Saint Rose steady and in the lead. Nyack slowly started to fall behind and ended the game 10 points behind Saint Rose.
The third and last set began with a kill by Saint Rose but Nyack began to creep ahead earning points on errors and a kill by Cassady Hymes. Saint Rose quickly came back tieing up the score at 4-4. Both teams began to trade points until Nyack went on a run scoring five points in a row putting the Warriors in the lead featuring kills by Kyra Zuhlke and Bailey Medeiros. At a score of 15-19 Saint Rose began to make a comeback and stealing the game from the Warriors and winning the whole match.
Highlights: Rachel Medin had 5 kills out of 7 total attempts giving her a hitting percentage of .714 as well as 24 assists.
