Warriors Volleyball Secures Win Against Concordia in Five Sets

The Nyack College volleyball team faced off in an away conference match against Concordia College. In a match that was even in play, both teams fought hard for every point but the Warriors managed to come out on top with the win in five sets. 

In the first set, the Warriors fell behind early on losing five points in a row. They consistently stayed two points behind Concordia for the whole set, but were unable to bridge the gap. They fell further behind in the last few points, ultimately losing the set with a final score of 20-25. 

The second set of the match, the Warriors came out of the gate fighting, earning a five point lead early on in the game. Every stride Concordia made to come back was combated by Nyack putting the ball down. At a score of 17-11, British Dawson went on a serving run where the Warriors won eight points in a row, three of which were kills by Abby Wright. The Warriors secured the set with a final score of 25-12.

The third set of the game, Concordia was determined to not repeat the last set. They came out of the gate ready to play and challenged the Warriors in who wanted to win more. The Warriors traded off points with Concordia falling no more than three points behind but always coming back and bridging the gap. The Warriors managed to push through all the way until the end and pulled out the set win with a final score of 26-24. 

The fourth set of the game, The Warriors found themselves in the lead by four points closer to the end of the set. In a serving run, Concordia began to bridge that gap as the Warriors lost momentum. Concordia managed to score six points in a row gaining a three point lead on the Warriors. Nyack was unable to push through their mistakes and lost the last couple points, losing the set to Concordia with a final score of 20-25 and taking the game to five. 

In the fifth and final set of the game the Warriors found themselves ahead by six points. Nyack began to get frazzled as Concordia went on another serving run earning five points in a row and tieing up the game at 6-6. Nyack was able to push ahead earning four points in a row and gaining the lead back. Concordia then came back and won four points in a row tieing up the score at 13-13. Both teams battled hard for those last two points to secure a win to bring them to playoffs. Taking the fifteen point set to twenty total points, both teams traded points but on a kill by Kirby Cuellar and an attack error on Concordia, the Warriors were able to secure the match win with a final set score of 20-18.
