The Nyack College Warriors volleyball team faced off in a home conference match against Bloomfield College. This was the Warriors last home game to ever be played in Bowman Gym as Nyack College will be moving to the city for the Fall of 2020 season. The Warriors battled hard for the win with many impressive plays but they were unable to push through to the end losing the match 3-1.
In the first set of the match, the Warriors did not start off as strong as they could losing the lead almost immediately. At a score of 11-7, the Warriors took a timeout for a reset and went back on the court ready to fight for every point. The Warriors bridged the gap on kills by Kyra Zuhlke and Rachel Medin earning back all their points and even gaining a one point lead which was then tied up by Bloomfield at 13-13. The Warriors trailed behind yet again by three points but was able to come back slowly tieing up the score at 24-24. The Warriors secured the set win on a kill by Kyra Zuhlke and a service ace by Abby Wright winning with a final score of 26-24
Th second set of the match, the Warriors were unable to bring that same momentum onto the court falling behind by four points early on and consistently playing at that same pace throught the set. The Warriors were unable to bridge this gap and lost the set with a final score of 25-21.
The third set of the mathc produced more of the same where the Warriors were unable to find their groove. Bloomfield took a far lead with the score hitting 20-8 at one point. With too large of a point deficit to gain back the Warriors lost the set with a final score of 25-17.
The fourth and final set of the match, the Warriors picked up their pace and found the energy they had in the first set and applied it to this one. At first they fell behind but quickly earned those points back and even taking the lead by three points. Bloomfield tied up the score at 18-18 where both teams then traded points back and forth until Bloomfield pulled ahead at a score of 20-19 on a four point scoring run. The Warriors were unable to produce anything promising losing the set with a final score of 25-20 and the match 3-1.
