The Nyack College Women's Cross Country Team continues to get their season underway with an appearance this weekend at the 36th Annual Philadelphia University Metropolitan Cross Country Championship. From a field of 16 colleges and universities, the Running Warriors would improve to notch 2nd place overall as a team after their 3rd place finish in 2014.
How It Happened:
The meet featured a total of 115 racers. The top finisher for the women was senior Nicole Pagan (Carrollton, TX) who stormed in for the Warriors individually for 2nd place finish after clocking in at 21:06.2. Sophomore, Stefani Ritter (Medford, OR) was the second Warrior in placing 6th overall; running 21:31.4. Sophomore Sidney Spaschak (Buffalo, NY) had the next highest finish for Nyack as the team's third runner in, stopping the clock at 22:00.7 while juniors Danielle Wilson (Navarre, OH... 15th) and Trisha Frazer (Murfreesboro, TN... 22nd) rounded out Nyack's top-5 scorers.
The top-15 individual scorers' received individual honors as Pagan, Ritter, Spaschak, and Wilson were recognized during the awards ceremony. Philadelphia University won the championship with a low score of 46 points while Alyssa Lambert from Franklin Pierce University took home the individual crown with a finishing time of 20:27.6.
Nyack Cross Country will take a week off from competition and will resume back to racing on Saturday, September 26th for the Osprey Open hosted by Stockton University. See here for the complete 2015 Women's Cross Country Schedule.
