Women's XC With 7th Place Finish At Delaware Inviational

The Nyack cross country teams went to new lengths in their season at the Delaware Invitational this weekend, continuing to increase their stamina and speed and push themselves to their best. The women's team finished 7th out of 10, with three out of their five team members finishing in the top half of the runners. The men's team was led into a 4th place finish out of 10 by a strong showing from their upperclassmen .

In the women's race, junior Winnie Jepkoech again led the Warriors through the finish line, running an average pace of 7:03 per mile in the 6K race to complete the course in 26:19 and take an 18th place finish overall. Senior Sidney Gall was close behind her, coming in at 26:29 to be 21st overall across the line. Freshman Celeste DiNardo came in at 29th to secure her spot in the top half, running the race in 27:44. The Warriors were barely edged out of 6th place by Howard by 4 points, gaining an overall score of 159 and an average time of 28:34 in their 7th place finish.
 
The Nyack men's team surged into the top 20 of overall finishers in the 8K race. Junior Zachary Trador flew into 6th place overall at the Invitational, earning him a well-deserved CACC honor roll mention. He ran the course at an average pace of 5:43 per mile to lead the Warriors with a time of 28:25. Seniors Joseph Girard and Thomas Trott finished hard in the 17th and 20th overall spots, running times of 29:49 and 30:06, respectively. Their drive secured a 4th place finish for the team, their highest of the season so far, with a score of 118 and an average team time of 30:29.
 
Up next, the Warriors have this weekend off but look forward in preparation to September 30th, where they will compete in the Saint Mary College Invite in Newburgh, NY.
