Men's and Women's Cross Country Place First Among D2 School at Mt. St. Mary Cross-Country Invitational

The Nyack cross country teams showed their speed and stamina at the Mt. St. Mary Cross-Country Invitational on Saturday September 30th, with the women's team coming in 4th and the men's team claiming 2nd place. Both teams' performances were driven by strong paces from their upperclassmen. Four out of the five runners on the women's team crossed the finish line in the top 30 out of 150 spots, and three of the men's team members came in the top 10 out of 154 to secure their placements. 

In the women's race, senior Sidney Gall flew into 9th place overall. She averaged a pace of 6:52/mile, sprinting down the final stretch to beat out the 10th place runner by 6 seconds with a total 6K time of 25:35. Winnie Jepkoech was close behind her in 12th place overall, finishing the course in 25:47. Bornes Jerono (22nd) and freshman Celeste DiNardo (29th) rounded out Nyack's presence in the top 30 runners with times of 26:44 and 26:56, respectively. The team's combined score of 186 catapulted them into 4th place out of 24 total teams.
 
In the men's race, junior Zachary Trador again led the Warriors across the finish line, blazing into 4th place ahead of 150 other runners. He secured his finish with a final burst of effort to cross the line ahead of the 5th place runner by milliseconds, completing the 8K race in 27:21 with an average pace of 5:30/mile. Seniors Joseph Girard and Thomas Trott finished in 9th and 10th with times of 28:15 and 29:27, respectively, to add to the Nyack's strong showing on the course. The Warriors' team score of 111 secured them the 2nd place spot out of 25 total teams, their best finish of the season so far. 
 
The Warriors look forward to their next opportunity to finish strong at the Jack Saint Clair Memorial race in Philadelphia on Saturday, Oct. 7th.
