Fort Pierce, FL - The men's baseball team concluded their Florida trip with a 2-game sweep over Mercy College by scores of 1-0 and 4-1.
In game 1, Cole Tobin would throw his 2nd consecutive complete game shutout, pitching out of trouble early in the contest, before settling in to scatter 5 Mercy hits and total 8 strikeouts in his 2nd straight win on the hill.
Nyack would scratch their only run of the contest across in the top of the 5th inning, when Ryan Kahl led off the inning with a hit by pitch. Dylan Schantz would put down a perfectly placed bunt which allowed Kahl to move from 1st to 3rd base before scoring on a sacrifice fly off the bat of John Kennedy.
Tobin would strand runners in the 6th and 7th inning on way to his 2nd straight complete game victory. Tobin also collected two hits in the win.
In game two Craig Jacobs would hurl the Warriors second gem of the game, allowing one unearned run over 7 innings and scattering 4 Mercy hits on the way to the Nyack win.
Tobin would knock in the Warriors 1st run of the day on an rbi single to score Kennedy who had walked and stole 2nd to lead off the game. Josh Brunvoll collected a key two out, two rbi single to score Jan-Pierre Crespo and Larry Vidaurre and push the Warrior lead to 4-0.
Mercy's loan run would come off a Nyack defensive miscue in the 5th inning, Jacobs would retire the Mavericks in the 6th and 7th en route to the complete game win. Brunvoll would collect two hits and two RBI's in the win.
