Baseball Tops Adelphi 4-3

Garden City, NY - The men's baseball team came out on top of a back forth east region battle with Adelphi University yesterday afternoon by a score of 4-3.  Matthias Westfall picked up the win in relief for the Warriors throwing 3 scoreless and striking out 4 Panthers.

Adelphi would take advantage of a Warrior defensive miscue to take a 1-0 lead in the opening frame.  Nyack would quickly rally to tie the contest at 1-1 when Josh Brunvoll scored Brent James on a sacrifice fly.  Larry Vidaurre would bring home Nyack's 2nd run in the 5th, with an rbi single that scored Ryan Kahl who had started the Warrior rally with a leadoff double.  Adelphi would add two runs in the bottom of the 5th to take a 3-2 lead.  The Warriors would knot the score at 3-3 on an rbi single from John Kennedy, scoring pinch runner Tino Pardo from second base.

Phil Erwin would lead off the top of the 8th with a double, move to 3rd on an infield single from  Brunvoll, and score on what would prove to be the game winning single from Jack Hudak in the 8th inning.

Zack Kamerman turned in another quality start for the Warriors, tossing 6 strong innings and scattering 4 hits and 3 runs (2 earned), while striking out 4 batters.
