PHILADELPHIA, PA - The Nyack College men's baseball team opened their Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) schedule against the University of Sciences this afternoon at the Richie Ashburn Field, taking both games by scores of 6-3, and 2-0.
Nyack would get out to an early lead in the opening frame, when Larry Vidaurre singled home John Kennedy to give the Warriors a 1-0 advantage. The Warriors would add three more runs in the 4th inning when Ryan Kahl delivered a 2 RBI double and Dylan Schantz added the Warriors third run of the inning with a sacrifice fly. Eric Roe brought home the Warriors 5th run in the 6th inning and Kahl's second double of the game brought the score to 6-0. Sciences would add 2 runs in the 7th and 1 in the 9th but Nyack would hold on for the 6-3 win.
Cole Tobin picks up his 3rd win on the season, tossing 6 scoreless innings, scattering 3 hits and striking out 5. Kennedy and Kahl each recorded multiple hit efforts in the win.
The Warriors would add two runs in the top of the 2nd inning on a 2 RBI single off the bat of Phil Erwin, and Craig Jacobs would do the rest on the mound for the Warriors. Jacobs would earn his second complete game in as many starts, pitching 9 innings, scattering 8 hits and striking out 5. John Kennedy and Phil Erwin both collected multiple hit efforts in the win.
The Warriors, now 7-8 overall and 2-0 in CACC play, return to action Wednesday when they travel to take on Dowling at 3:30 PM.
