Baseball Powers Past Concordia in DH Sweep

Pomona, NY - The men's baseball team came away with a CACC DH sweep against Concordia College this afternoon at Provident Bank Park by scores of 8-2 and 3-1.  The Warriors move to 5-1 in CACC play and 12-10 on the season.

Game 1 Recap:
Concordia would strike first in the 2nd inning with a solo homer to give the Clippers a 1-0 lead.  John Kennedy and Cole Tobin would each notch solo homers of their own to give Nyack a 2-1 lead.  Kennedy's blast would come in the 3rd inning while Tobin's would come an inning later.  Concordia would knot the game at 2-2 in the 5th inning.  

With two outs in the 6th inning, the Warriors would get 4 consecutive extra base hits, with three straight doubles by Hilario Vidaurre, Tobin, and Brent James to give the Warriors a 4-2 advantage.  Scott Murphy would put an exclamation point on the bottom of the 6th with his first collegiate homer, a 2-out blast making the score 6-2 Nyack.  Vidaurre and James would add rbi singles in the 7th and 8th innings to make the score 8-2.

Cole Tobin would throw yet another complete game, earning his 5th win, scattering 7 hits, walking 3 and striking out 4.  Kennedy, Vidaurre, Tobin and James all turned in mult-hit efforts in the win.


Game 2 Recap:
With the score tied at 0-0 in the fifth inning and two outs, Dylan Schantz would drive a single to right field, move to 2nd on a Concordia defensive miscue, and score on a Phil Erwin single to give the Warriors a 1-0 lead.  The second Concordia defensive miscue would lead to the Warriors 2nd run of the inning, and Tobin would drive in Erwin to give Nyack a 3-0 lead after 5 innings.    Concordia would scratch across an unearned run in the 9th off Matthias Westfall, and with 2-outs Craig Jacobs would come into collect his first save of the season to give Nyack the win.  

Matthias Westfall picks up the victory, throwing 8.2 innings, scattering 4 hits and striking out 8 Clippers.  

Nyack returns to CACC action on Saturday when they travel to take on Post University in a DH beginning at 12 PM.
