Pomona, NY - The men's baseball team held off a 2-out rally by Post University yesterday evening to hold on for the 4-3 win in a conference game held at Provident Bank Park. The win brings the Warriors overall record to 13-10 and Nyack is now 6-1 in CACC play.
Nyack would add 3 runs in the 2nd inning, the first coming off an rbi double from Ryan Kahl, scoring Brent James who led off the inning with a single. The Warriors 2nd run would come on an Eagle throwing error on a sac bunt by Eric Roe. Nyack's third run of the frame came on an rbi single through the left side off the bat of John Kennedy.
Post would make the score 3-1 in the bottom of the third with a solo home run. The Warriors would add an insurance run in the 8th inning on an rbi triple off the bat of Jan-Pierre Crespo. Post would rally to score two runs in the bottom of the 9th, but would see the inning come to a close with a diving catch in left field by Phil Erwin to give the Warriors the win.
Craig Jacobs picks up the win for Nyack, throwing 6 strong innings of work, allowing 1 earned run. Zack Kamerman would hold the lead over the next 2.2 innings, and Matthias Westfall would come on in the 9th for the 1-out save.
Nyack returns to action late this afternoon in a 5 pm game CACC matchup versus Bloomfield College at Provident Bank Park.
