Queens, NY - The men's baseball team came out on top of Queens College in a non-conference affair by a score of 10-0 on the campus of Queens College this afternoon. The win brings the Warriors overall record to 15-10 on the season.
Nyack would get on the board with two runs in the first inning. John Kennedy would lead off the game with a double to right center and score on a QC wild pitch to make the score 1-0. Larry Vidaurre would drive in Phil Erwin on a line single to make the score 2-0 after 1. The Warriors would explode for 5 runs in the 2nd inning. Phil Erwin would drive in Kennedy and Jose Rodriguez with a double down the right field line, and after a walk by Larry Vidaurre, Cole Tobin would launch his 2nd homer of the year over the left center wall to give Nyack an 8-0 lead.
Vidaurre would drive in the final two Warrior runs, with an rbi groundout in the 4th inning to score Erwin who had tripled, and with an rbi single to score McConnell who had doubled in the 8th.
James Batton picks up his 2nd collegiate win, throwing 7 scoreless innings of shutout ball, scattering 2 hits and striking out 3. Mike Langston and Tony Campbell would finish the combined shutout with scoreless 8th and 9th innings to secure the Warrior win.
Kennedy, Erwin, Tobin, Vidaurre, and Josh Brunvoll would each tally multi-hit efforts in the win.
Nyack returns to CACC action tomorrow at 3 PM when they host Bloomfield College at Provident Bank Park.
