Pomona, NY - The men's baseball team came out on the winning side of a 13-2 contest against Bloomfield College this afternoon at Provident Bank Park. The CACC win takes the Warriors to 16-10 overall in 2014 and 8-1 in conference play.
Nyack would capitalize in the bottom of the first with two runs off of Deacon miscues to take a 2-0 lead. Two innings later, Eric Roe would drive in the Warriors third run with a double down the right field line to make the score 3-0 after 3 innnings. An rbi single by Eric Roe in the 5th would bring in the Warriors 5th run and back to back rbi groundouts by John Kennedy and Phil Erwin would make the score 6-0. Larry Vidaurre would add an rbi double to drive in the Warriors 8th run, making the score 7-0 after 5.
Bloomfield would answer with 2 runs on three hits to begin the 6th, but Brent James would respond in the 6th inning, leading off the frame with a 410 foot blast to center field, extending the Warrior lead to 8-2. Dylan Schantz would drive in the Warriors 9th run with a single to left, Vidaurre would drive his second double down the left field line to score two, and Cole Tobin would drive in a run to give the Warriors a 12-2 lead after 6.
Matthias Westfall picks up his 3rd win of 2014, pitching 7 strong innings, allowing 2 earned, scattering 6 hits and striking out 4.
Tobin, Vidaurre, Schantz, and Roe would each register multi-hit performances in the win.
Nyack returns to non-conference action on Saturday when they travel to take on Molloy College. The Warriors resume their CACC schedule next Wednesday when they play host to Felician for a 12 PM double header.
