Newark, NJ - The men's baseball team topped Bloomfield College in a CACC DH yesterday at West Side Park by scores of 4-2 and 8-5. The sweep brings Nyack's CACC record to 3-5 on the season.
How It Happened:
Trailing 1-0 in the 4th inning of game 1, back to back doubles from Cole Tobin and Brent James would tie the game at 1-1. Dylan Schantz would drive in Brent James with 2-outs in the 4th and give the Warriors a 2-1 lead. The Warriors would add two more in the 5th when Hilario Vidaurre and Mike Langston scored on a passed ball and a wild pitch giving Nyack a 4-1 lead. Bloomfield would cut the lead to 4-2 in the 7th, but Nyack would hold off the Bears in the final two frames to take game 1.
Nyack would score 5 in the first 3 frames of game 2, with Cole Tobin scoring Vidaurre on a sac fly after Vidaurre had doubled to start game 2. In the 2nd inning Nyack would pull their lead to 3-1 after an rbi single off the bat of Tino Pardo and an rbi double from Jack Hudak. Schantz and Pardo would bring in runs in the 3rd with an rbi single from Schantz and rbi ground out from Pardo.
Nyack would pull their lead to 7-3 in the 6th when Yoni Rodriguez delivered a 2-out, 2 rbi double. Bloomfield would cut the deficit to 7-5 with a 2 rbi double in the 7th. Brent James would score Tobin with another rbi single in the top of the 9th to give Nyack an 8-5 lead.
Tony Campbell would come on to close out the Bears in the 9th inning, collecting his 2nd save of 2015. Cole Tobin earns the win for Nyack, throwing 5 innings, scattering 7 hits and striking out 3.
