POMONA, NY - Dylan Schantz (Phoenix, AZ) would draw a bases loaded, 2-out walk in the bottom of the 10th inning to give Nyack a non-conference, extra-innings win over Queens College in a non-conference game yesterday evening by a score of 5-4.
How It Happened:
Brent James (Seligman, AZ) would bring in the Warriors first run of the game with a groundball single in the bottom of the first inning. Nyack would add another run on a Queens balk to take a 2-0 advantage after 1.
Queens would take advantage of several Warrior miscues in the 3rd, and Kevin Kolasar would deliver a 2-out, 2-rbi double in the 3rd to give the Knights a 3-2 lead.
Nick McConnell (Edison, NJ) and Michael Langston (Flagstaff, AZ) would deliver rbi singles in the 7th to give Nyack a 4-3 lead after 7, but Queens would rally to tie the game in the 8th, knotting the score at 4-4.
The score would remain tied until the bottom of the 10th, when Warriors Schantz and James drew back to back walks to give the Warriors the win.
Jack Hudak (Pittsburgh, PA) picks up his first collegiate win, pitching two scoreless frames and striking out 3. Jose Corrales (Guatemala City, Guatemala) delivered his best outting of the season, pitching 6 1/3 innings and fanning 10. The Nyack pitching staff would register a season best 15 K's in the win.
