The Nyack College Warriors Baseball team faced off against USciences in their last home conference doubleheader. The Warriors won both games securing themselves a spot in playoffs. The score of the first game was 8-2 and the score of the second game was 6-4.
USciences started off scoring in the third inning with a single to left field. The Warriors put themselves on the scoreboard in the bottom of the third inning when Herman Alvarado hot a single to center field, advancing to second on the throw and helping Austin Fischer and Brandon Rivera score. Matthew Johnson then hit a single to right field bringing in 2 RBIs for his team. In the fourth inning Nyack continued to play strong and had four runs scored in this inning; David Gauthier doubled, Yoni Rodriguez singled, and Herman Alvarado doubled. In the eighth inning Usciences scored on a single hit but it was not enough for them to catch up to Warriors.
Nyack started off the scoring in the first inning when Herman Alvarado singled up the middle bringing home Matthew Johnson. In the bottom of the third inning, Quinton Pertkiewicz singled to right center bringing in 2 RBIs for his team. In the fourth inning, USciences put themselves on the scoreboard with a sacrifice fly. Nyack came back and scored one run off a homerun hit by Yoni Rodriguez. In the 5th inning, USciences began to catch up scoring 3 RBIs and tieing up the game at 4-4. Nyack then came back and scored 2 RBIs on a single hit to right field by Alec Petterson. This ended scoring for the game and the Warriors clinched their spot in playoffs.
The Warriors will play in the CACC Quarter Finals on Saturday May 4th at 2:00PM held in Wilimgton, Delaware.
