SALISBURY, MD (September 28, 2013)
Men's cross country wrapped up their third race of the 2013 campaign on Saturday afternoon, finishing in 6th place as a team within a field of 12 at Winter Place Park in Salisbury, MD.
Freshman Mateusz Gacik (Poland) finished the race in 27:45 resulting in a personal best time, cutting down of more than two-and a half minutes from his last performance. Rookie Camden Lawrence (Canada) completed the course in 28:21, which was a personal record time of one minute and fifty-nine seconds from his race last weekend. Rounding out Nyack's Top-5 individulas was senior Robert Lafond (Milford, CT) in 29:19.
Freshman, Stephen Bailey (Milford, CT) closed out the Warrior team in the 6th position at 30:23, which would be one minute and twenty-eight seconds shaved from his last race.
Coach Latia Deylii states: "it's great seeing the overall improvement especially from our new runners who stepped up and stuck to team goals. This meet was a huge confidence booster and we enjoy the challenge of keeping up with the more competative schools who race here because they make us better."
The Don Cathcart Invitational, hosted by Salisbury University was a fairly dificult race due to the high level of competion present. Goldey-Beacom College and Nyack were the only two teams representing the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC).
East Stroudsburg University (6th Atlantic Region) finished in 1st place as a team with an average time of 25:44 and ESU runner Chris Schneider claimed the individual title as he crossed the line in 25:01 respectively.
York College finished 2nd as a team, rounding out the Top-2 best teams of the meet and they were awarded trophies during a post-race ceremony.
Next weekend, Saturday, October 5th, Nyack Cross Country will travel to Bethlehem, PA to take part in the Paul Short Run 8k, sponsored by ASICS. The race will take place on the Goodman Campus of Lehigh University.
