BETHLEHEM, PA (October 5, 2013)
The Paul Short Run presented by ASICS on the Goodman Campus of Lehigh University consisted roughly 6,000 high school and collegiate athletes from across the country, including nationally ranked division I, II, and III colleges/universities who were divided into six races with several hundreds of runners in each.
On a sweltering hot and humid afternoon, the Nyack Running Warriors hit the starting line for one of the most uncomfortable races of all season which led to slow times across the board due to excessive heat that caused several runners to be transported to the hospital.
Nyack cross country was one of the 150 teams who were able to complete the 8K race before the extreme weather conditions forced the competition to be cut short for the safety of the student-athletes with only a few race groups getting through the course.
"I'm very thankful all our men finished healthy. We instructed them to go out for the first two miles much slower than their normal race pace and kept them wet and hydrating up until the very start."

All the high school races that were scheduled to occur on the Legigh campus following the collegiate races were shut down, including the collegiate race the Nyack women's team was scheduled to run in.
After hosting their Running Warrior 5k/3k fundraiser on Saturday October 12th in Nyack, NY, Warrior Cross Country's next competition is the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Championships on Sunday October 27th in Philadelphia, PA.
Nyack cross country thanks friends & families who came out to support.
