With their 17th/39 place overall finish, Nyack Men's Cross Country topped their Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference competitors at the Paul Short 8k Run. Philadelphia University finished 1 minute and 25 seconds behind the Warriors, while Goldey Beacom College finished 3 minutes and 26 seconds behind. Five CACC member schools took part in the competative meet presented by ASICS.
How It Happened:
Redshirt freshman Ian Mirtile (Melbourne, Australia) led the Running Warriors to their best team finish at Lehigh University's Paul Short Run as Nyack pulled off 17th place from a competitive field of 39 schools. Mirtile finished in 31st place individually out of 308 runners to shave 6 seconds from his personal best 8k finish from last weekend with a time of 27:04.4 Behind him, coming in second for Nyack, was sophomore Thomas Trott (Frederick, MD) in 104th place overall. Trott finished the course with a complete time of 28:07 flat averaging 5:39.3 per mile, which secured him a course personal best time from his 29:00 finish time from 2014. Close after Trott was junior Mateusz Gacik (Mysliborz, Poland) with a finish time of 28:13.2, averaging 5:40.6 per mile, in 109th place. Junior Nathaniel Dominy (Christiansburg, VA) in 116th place. Dominy held an average mile pace of 5:42.4 completing the 8k in 28:22.0 to notch his best finish of the season. Wrapping up the Running Warriors top-5 scorers was freshman Zachary Trador (Seminole, FL) in a time of 29:03.5 as the rookie averaged a 5:50 pace per mile.
The Running Warriors are off until the CACC Championship 8k race on Sunday, October 25th. The race will take place at Belmont Plateau in Fairmount Park Philadelphia, PA. Runners will take the mark and begin the run at 11:00am.
