Women's Soccer Edged by Georgian Court 1-0

NYACK, NY (September 21, 2013)

The Warriors women's soccer team battled the Georgian Court University (GCU) Lady Lions in a Central Atlantic Collegeiate Conference match on Saturday afternoon.

The Warriors controled posession throught the entire match as the GCU was out shot by a margin of 10-13. Nyack maintained preassure on the Lady Lions as they also lead 5-3 in corner kick opportunities.

With four minutes left in the 2nd period, a corner kick was delivered by Lady Lion Jamie Smith. 

As the ball remained scrambled within the box, GCU's Laura Nelson took advantage of a Nyack defensive error to knock in a goal which would be enough to secure them a 1-0 victory.

Julia Losert (Germany) and Amanda Halter (Cheyenne, WY) attempted to redeem the GCU goal but Losert's shot went wide and Halter's was saved.

Junior goalkeeper Madeline Barbarino (Staten Island, NY), recorded one save for the Warriors while GCU's goal keeper made seven saves in the game.

Nyack (2-3, 1-1 CACC) will be on the road this upcoming week for more CACC action against Bloomfield College, Wednesday September 25th at 7pm and then are scheduled to take on Goldey Beacom College, Saturday September 28th at 3pm.
