The Warrior Women's Soccer team opened up their 2015 schedule with a tough loss to the No. 3 nationally ranked Saint Rose Golden Knights, by a final score of 6-1.

How It Happened:
Saint Rose came out strong in the first half with three back-to-back goals to enter the halftime break with a 3-0 cushion over Nyack. As Saint Rose's Silvana Giovannone closed out the first period with her first goal of the season, the senior defender jumped right into the second period with another goal for the Golden Knights with 53:18 minutes on the clock.

An assist by Karla Dominguez (Mexico City, Mexico) found Warrior Julianna Kranes (Montgomery, NY) during the 65th minute to net a Nyack goal and mark Kranes's first collegiate goal of the season. Saint Rose eventually capped off the match with two more goals and by the end of regulation, cruised their way to a 6-1 victory over Nyack.

Words From Coach
"After today's game, our focus remains the same and that is to continue to build a culture of excellence within our program. Despite going down 4-0 our women demonstrated resilience on the field to keep working hard and fighting. This eventually led to our first goal and what a great way for Julianna Kranes to get her season started. We were pressured from the very beginning of the game and were limited in space to possess the ball, build, and move forward. Saint Rose demonstrated the high quality of play, which has led them to being ranked No. 3 in NCAA Division II Women's Soccer. However, our players are very confident after scoring for the first time against Saint Rose in competition. This shows great improvement and progress in our program. The team's response to the loss was also encouraging. Our strengths and list of improvements have been noted and we look forward to preparation for our next match. My coaching staff and I intend to continue to teach the game more efficiently to our players and keep pressing onward. Thank you to all the family members of players who came out to support us tonight. We appreciate all of you."

Up Next:
The Warriors will return to the field on Thursday, September 10th for another home match against New York Institute of Technology (NYIT) at 4pm. The contest will be the first of five more events scheduled for the month of September.
