The Nyack College Women's Soccer Team faced Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference competitors the Georgian Court University Lions in a home match this Saturday, September 26th, afternoon. In a tough 90 minutes of play the Warriors fell to the Lions with a final score of 5-0.
How It Happened:
Senior Krystal Vega (Anaheim Hills, CA) produced the most shots for the Warriors with 3 shots for the entire 90 minutes of play; 2 of those shots were on target. The Warriors had three other players contribute to the 6 total shots Nyack had against Georgian Court University. Freshmen Julianna Kranes (Montgomery, NY) and Vanessa Séfriou (Québec, Canada), as well as sophomore Jessica Short (Tottenham, Canada) each tallied one shot through the Lions tough defensive line. On defense, sophomore Jordan Jansen (Lafayette, NJ) recorded 13 saves out of 18 shots on goal giving up 5 goals.
Georgian Court University was able to score twice in the first half of the game, once in the 4th minute and again in the 26th. The Lions would take 7 shots, allowing Jansen to record 3 saves, in contrast to the Warriors 1 shot by Vega for the half. The second period saw increased action as Nyack was able to break through the Lions defense to take 5 shots; 2 of which were saved by Lions keeper Casey O'Connor. The Lions came out in full force for the second half placing 15 shots with 13 shots on goal. Jansen was able to stop 10 shots from scoring permitting only 3 goals to cross the line. The game would conclude with a final score of Georgian Court 5, Nyack 0.
Nyack College's next match is scheduled for Tuesday, September 29th, at 1:30pm. The Warriors will travel to play Felician College in a CACC competition. Felician College is currently 3-1 in conference play while the Warriors are 1-2. Stay tuned for more details!
