The Women's Soccer team faced University of Bridgeport in a non-conference home match at OMM Complex Wednesday, October 14th. The Purple Knights of the University of Bridgeport stole the game, winning 6-0 with 27 shots earning 2 saves against the Warriors.
How It Happened:
Sophomore Rebekah Lawler (Lacey, NJ) and freshman Vanessa Séfriou (Quebec, Canada) each had one shot on goal for the Warriors offense. Senior Brittany Cruz (Suffren, NY) added a shot as well. Sophomore keeper Jordan Jansen (Lafayette, NJ) earned 4 saves for the match before freshman Alexandra Bisson offered relief, earning one save of her own.
The first period of play saw four goals on the Warriors net in the initial 15 minutes of play. Lawler would record the Warriors sole shot for the half to be saved by Knights keeper Melanie Ziegner. The clock would expire with a score of 4-0 in favor of the Purple Knights.
The start of the second period saw one early goal from UB in the 51st minute. The Warriors responded with one header shot from Cruz missing wide, and a save from Jansen before the Knights would score again in the 72nd minute. Bisson entered the game in the 75th minute, immediately earning a save in the 76th. Sefriou tallied the Warriors final attempt at goal in the 84th minute with a shot saved by Ziegner. The clock would retire with a final score of 6-0, in favor of the University of Bridgeport.
The Warriors are set to play a home match at Moseley Field on Saturday, October 17th, against Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference competitors Philadelphia University at 12pm. Come out and support your Warriors!
