Nyack, NY – Two second half goals helped the Nyack College women's soccer team clinch a 2-0 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference win earlier this Tuesday against Felician University.
Both teams created several opportunities throughout the first half, but neither team could find the back of the net. At the end of the first period the Warriors (2-4/2-2 CACC) recorded a 6-7 disadvantage in shots, while both teams recorded one corner. Warrior sophomore Julianna Kranes and her counterpart Bjonda Ademi recorded three saves each in the first period.
The Warriors picked up the pace in the second half and created several good opoortunities to take the lead. In the 79th minute freshman Gianna Perri played a perfectly timed through-ball to teammate Brianna Sparrow, who beat the goalkeeper in a 1vs1 to give the Warriors the 1-0 lead. Felician tried to answer with a goal of their own, which opened up a lot of space for Nyack to counter attack. One of them was converted by junior Rebekah Lawler with 35 seconds left in the game, when she was sent through by teammate Camila Parada.
Felician held a 15-13 advantage in shots over 90 minutes. Julianna Kranes recorded 10 saves to earn a shutout and the win.
