Nyack, NY – Three first half goals helped the Nyack College women's soccer team clinch a 3-1 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference win this Thursday night against Bloomfield College.
Bloomfield was pressing high during the entire game, which created several counter attack opportunities for the Warriors. One of these was converted into a goal in the 17th minute, when Charlotte Barhnham was sent through by Vanessa Séfriou to give the Warriors the 1-0 lead. Two minutes later Vanessa Séfriou would score of a set piece from 25 yards out and find the upper left corner to increase the Warrior lead to two. Charlotte Barnham added her second goal of the night with three minutes left in the first half, when she converted another breakaway into a 3-0 lead. for Nyack. Bloomfield would answer with a goal of its own with the next attack. The first half finished with a score Nyack 3 Bloomfield 1. Julianna Kranes recorded four saves during the first 45 minutes.
The Bears picked up the pace in the second half and created several good opoortunities, but were unable to convert any of them into goals. The game would eventually finish with a score of 3-1 in favor of Nyack. Julianna Kranes finished the night with 6 saves, while the Warriors outshot the Bears 22 to 14.
The Lady Warriors will be back in action this Saturday, when they host the Chestnut Hill College Griffins for homecoming weekend. Kickoff is slated for 12pm.
