Nyack, NY- The Lady Warriors battled it out with CACC member, Dominican College on Mosley Field in the hot sun. The Charges 6 shot attempts compared to the Warriors 9 shot attempts did not fall in favor for Nyack as they fell (2-0) to the Chargers.
The Warriors looked promising in the first half with Jessica Short finding herself with a corner kick. The Chargers Keeper was tested by two, back to back shots by the Warriors, Katherine Bencosme and Nadine Cornett. Dominicans Goalie, Angelica Contreras managed save both shots to keep the scoreboard at (0-0). Dominican fired back with a forced corner kick from a dribble up the field that was deflected. The Warriors defense was solid as they prevented a goal off of the corner kick attempt. In what looked like a Nyack possession game soon became a Chargers games as they took a couple shots on goal to have Greta Enloe on her toes. As the game proceeded Nyack found trouble with finishing their shots as they either went wide or saved. Both teams struggled to be a number on the board as the half ended in a tie.
There was a shift in play as the second half was well under way. The Chargers were adamant about possession that they handed out two corners and two shots in the first five minutes of the half starting. Although they were unsuccessful in all attempts, Dominican found a gap as a through ball in the middle allowed Sarah Wood her first goal on the season and in the game in the 53rd minute. When Sarah Wood couldn't get enough of her lone goal, she saw another opening as a cross in, deflected by the Warriors Goalie, found the ball back at her feet and then in the goal. The Warriors struggle the rest of the half to find three of their shots in the goal. The Chargers Goalie finished the half with a shutout. A Nyack corner kick at 79:15 looked like their last chance at a goal but the Chargers were defensively solid. The Lady Warriors could t manage to come back out for their (0-2) deficit.
The Warriors are 0-10 overall and 0-5 in the CACC conference. Looking ahead, they will compete in another CACC battle against Chestnut Hill at their home field. Kick off begins at 1:00pm on September 30.
