Nyack, NY - The Nyack College women's soccer team opened its 2019 home campaign with a non-conference match against the Bengals of UMaine-Fort Kent on Saturday afternoon.
The Warriors controlled the majority of the opening minutes and were caught by surprise when the Bengals found the back of the net eight minutes into the game. Nyack continued to push forward and had several good opportunities to equalize the game in the first 45 minutes. Nyack's biggest chance came off the foot of sophomore defender Saskia Lehninger, when her shot missed the Bengals' goal only by a few inches.
Nyack continued to push and dominate the game, but struggled to connect the dots in the final third. On the other side the Bengals proved their killer instinct scoring twice in the 50th and 53rd minute to increase their lead. The Bengals found the back of the net one more time in the 76th minute to seal the victory. Nyack kept pushing but the game eventually ended with a final score of 4-0.
Nyack will be back in action on Wednesday when they travel to upstate New York to take on the Daemen College Wildcats at 2:00pm.
