The Nyack College Women's Volleyball team faced off in an away conference match today against Georgian Court University. In a game where the competition was tough, the Warriors fought hard to compete but were unable to secure the win, losing in three sets.
The first set of the game the Warriors came out fighting. GCU was able to get a seven point lead on the Warriors in which they were able to come back from scoring five points in a row featuring two kills from Rachel Medin. The score at this point in the set was 15-17, with half of the set left, the Warriors continued to fight. Nyack was no more than two points behind GCU until the last few points of the set but where they fell further behind, losing the first set with a final score of 21-25
The second set of the game was more of the same. The Warriors started off strong but lost momentum around ten points where they fell behind by nine points. In an attempt to brdige the point gap Nyack managed to score three or four points in a row. The Warriors made GCU work hard for the last point of the set by scoring three points in a row on kills by Kirby Cuellar and Kyra Zuhlke and a service ace by Bailey Medeiros. GCU still managed to take the last point of the set winning with a final score of 19-25
In the final set of the game, the Warriors had lost momentum and energy and started off the game slower than the last two falling behind by ten points with only one point on the scoreboard for Nyack. The Warriors were unable to find the connection on the court in order to bridge the gap of points. GCU managed to go on two more scoring runs putting them far in the lead which helped them secure the set with a final score of 25-12 and the match 0-3.
